The overwhelming majority of animals eventually die. They are born, develop, age, and then die. It is the cycle of life. However, there is one that defies this rule. It has been scientifically proven that the so-called "immortal jellyfish" does not die. Whenever it ages or is severely injured, it reverts to its youthful stage, restarting the life cycle. It would be like a human turning back into a fetus or a butterfly turning back into a caterpillar.

This points to the Christian doctrine of the eternity of the soul. If it is possible for a physical being to exist eternally, imagine the human soul. If the soul exists—as the Holy Bible maintains—this animal demonstrates just how probable the soul's eternity is. This creature also points to the eternal nature of human beings in Eden. In the beginning, humans were created to be eternal; death only entered the picture after the so-called original sin.

The truth found in the Scriptures is that there is a world beyond this one. Consider what Psalm 46:4 says:

''Há um rio cujas correntes alegram a cidade de Deus, o santuário das moradas do Altíssimo. Deus está no meio dela; não será abalada. Deus a ajudará, já ao romper da manhã.''

The only way to enter this city is by believing in Jesus. Faith in Him opens the door for us. Once we believe in Him, the Holy Spirit guides us along the right path. There is hope in Christ Jesus.
