How to be a biblical pastor?

Jeremiah 3:15: "And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding."
This article is for you who are a pastor or who desire to be a pastor. The Bible says that whoever desires the pastorate desires a noble task (1 Timothy 3:1). Here are some tips so that you can be a good pastor according to the scriptures. Do not follow the broad path (which is easy to tread, but the end may be sad), but follow the narrow path (it is more difficult to tread, but the end is better), as in Matthew 7:13 and 14.
1- Prayer life: is the act of speaking with God. Take even 5 minutes every day to pray. Prayer draws you closer to God. Praying will make it harder for you to become depressed. The suicide rate among pastors is high. By praying, you will learn to trust and rest in God. You will see how your relationship with God will improve.
2- Read the Bible: if you are a pastor, your main duty is to preach the word of God to your flock. Try to read the entire Bible at least once. Start by reading a little from the New Testament, mark where you stopped, and then continue until you have read the entire Bible. When you read the Bible, God speaks to you through it.
3- Teach the scriptures: according to 1 Timothy 3:2, the pastor needs to teach. Teach the people a little of what you have read. Teach the history of the patriarchs, the history of Israel in the desert, the parables of Jesus, etc. Also teach them important concepts of Christian doctrine, such as the Trinity. It is precisely in these concepts that the main heresies arise. Our blog has several articles to help you with these topics.
4- Warn about sects: sects are dangerous groups that distort the word of God. Sect members are skilled in oratory and are trained to deceive and lead people into their sect. Alert your members about these [situations]. They can lead members of your church to participate in them. On our blog, you can learn about some of them.
5- Be content with your salary (stipend): if you receive a salary from your church, be content with it. Paul says that, having food and clothing, we should be more than satisfied (1 Timothy 6:8). If you don't find it sufficient, you can get a part-time job to supplement your income. It's not a sin to do so.
If you follow these tips, the members of your church will respect you a little more and you will be blessed by God. Remember that you are a leader and influence people. People in society will follow in your footsteps. Follow the path of Christ so that we may have a healthier and more harmonious society. Your children and grandchildren will be, or already are, part of it.
