What is biblical apologetics?

The Holy Bible clearly states, in passages such as Mark 16:15 and Matthew 28:19, that we have a mission in this world: to proclaim Jesus as Savior and his teachings as a way of life. One way to do this is through apologetics. Apologetics is the defense of the Christian faith, the doctrine of Christ (Christ's divinity, the Trinity, the authority of the Holy Bible, salvation by faith, humility, forgiveness, among others), according to biblical precepts.
However, this apologetics needs to be done in accordance with what is set forth in the Holy Scriptures in order to be done correctly. The text I usually use to address this is 1 Peter 3:15;
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord." "And always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," (emphasis added)
The first point is that, for good apologetics, Christ must be present in our lives. This means sanctifying Him in our hearts. He needs to be our guide along with the person of the Holy Spirit. The second point has to do with study. To explain and defend the Christian faith, it is necessary to read the Holy Bible and good books. Reading provides a foundation for our beliefs.
The third point is gentleness. It is necessary to have patience to debate and dialogue with people of other beliefs. Whenever I talk about Apologetics, some people think I am a bad person, that I hate those who are not of my faith and that I only make friends with people from my church. None of that is true. It is possible to do good apologetics while respecting the beliefs and dignity of other people, even when considering that they may be wrong. Sometimes the defense of the faith ends in confusion because the other interlocutor does not respect the apologist, resorting to insults and offenses. This forces the apologist to defend themselves.
The fourth and final point is the fear of God. The defense of the faith must be done respecting God's commandments and divine purposes. It is necessary to pray before participating in a debate or lecture. God can help a person in their studies and interactions. Fearing God is the beginning of wisdom and good apologetics.
