Did a priest create the Big Bang Theory?

Did a priest create the Big Bang Theory?

"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him." Colossians 1:16

The Big Bang Theory is a theory in physics that states that the universe is constantly expanding and, if it expands more each moment, at some point in the past all matter was gathered in a single point before the expansion began. It does not explain the origin of matter itself, but rather its development.

This theory explains how the universe as we know it today came into existence. Many people think that this theory contradicts the Bible and, therefore, believe that it was created by an atheist. However, in fact, it was created by the Belgian priest Georges Lemaître. He created the model in 1927 and called it the "Hypothesis of the Primordial Atom" or the "cosmic egg".

This theory also only contradicts more literal interpretations of the Bible. More open interpretations, such as those that accept that the Earth is billions of years old, do not contradict the Big Bang Theory. Origen, one of the Church Fathers, already defended creation in eras instead of literal days.
